One Island, Two Nations explores the choreographer’s St. Maarten heritage, highlighting the fading cultural history and the significance of salt. Featuring eight dancers and three drummers, the performance blends Afro-Caribbean contemporary dance with raw movements that reflect West African roots. Ultimately, “Soualichi ” underscores the importance of preserving cultural traditions for future generations.
